Murphy's Law...or Something More Sinister?

I seem to be having a Murphy's Law kind of day today:

• The refrigerator broke last week, was repaired, but is still acting up. The repairman came and made one more adjustment.


• Within five minutes of his leaving, the washer started making strange noises as it was spinning. It hasn't broken down yet, but it sure sounds like it will!


• Then, three hours later, the iron stopped working. It won't heat up. We'll have to take it to the repair shop.


• An hour after that, the electric power to our building went out--and my UPS (unlimited power supply) failed to work.


• I just looked at my watch: It's stopped working.

Either something is seriously going wrong electrically in this apartment or I've got Murphy breathing down my neck, giving me a very hard time!
